RESIST I DID IT MY WAY IN YIDDISH (IN ENGLISH) A REVOLUTIONARY CABARET

Stories & Songs from Music's Revolutionary Women

Conceived and performed by Roz White

Music Director and accompanist Michael Hill

Acclaimed actor and MetroStage favorite Roz White pays tribute to Alberta Hunter, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Abbey Lincoln, Roberta Flack, and Nina Simone, depicting their hardships and challenges, and their revolutionary influence on music and pop culture. Empowered by their determination, talent and artistry each has a story to tell and music to be celebrated.

Devised and performed by Catherine Flye

with Music Director and pianist Joe Walsh and Michael Tolaydo as Narrator

A musical entertainment celebrating the wit and wisdom of one of Britain’s most beloved comediennes. Award-winning actor Catherine Flye, most recently seen in MetroStage’s Christmas at the Old Bull and Bush, has been performing this delightful tribute throughout the British Isles since 2003 (also U.S. and Africa).

Written and performed by Deb Filler

Internationally acclaimed Canadian/New Zealand Jewish comic performer, musician and writer Deb Filler returns to MetroStage with her smash hit, having performed it in Toronto, London, Sydney, Auckland, Jerusalem, NYC and LA. A brilliant storyteller, she has charmed audiences world-wide with stories of her encounters with three Lennys. With only a guitar and a raft of lovable characters Deb is a one-woman tour de force in this jam-packed, music-filled show.

“heartwarming tribute…MetroStage welcomes back the wonderfully talented Catherine Flye…Flye seamlessly floats from one distinct character to the next in Grenfell’s collection of endearing personas …rich and poignant scenes…an artistic challenge that Flye surpasses with remarkable agility and good humor, an apparently effortless feat of a craft honed to near perfection.”
