STATEMENT RE/ DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION AND ACCESSIBILITY FROM THE BOARD AND STAFF AT METROSTAGE

MetroStage recognizes that we live in a country where historically one culture has been dominant at the expense of cultural plurality and equality. This has contributed to systemic racism that assumes that white culture is inherently more valuable than all others. This institutional and structural racism has been allowed to exist for too long. The Board and the staff at MetroStage are committed to making society and our institution a more equitable place where all will thrive.

We will act deliberately to end racial injustices and structural inequalities and to offer a work environment on stage and off that is equitable, inclusive, and that respects and celebrates the differences of everyone regardless of age, culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, and disability. We will speak out clearly against bigotry, racism, and hate crimes of all kinds.

Our mission is to produce exceptional theatrical experiences for our multicultural and multiracial artists and audiences. We will work to establish valuable and innovative partnerships to create lasting change. We believe that the theatre’s continued commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility will influence and enhance the community and the City where we live and work.
