the capital campaign has begun for metrostage’s new theatre

It’s time to build a new theatre, and we need your help. As you know, our beloved theatre on North Royal St, where we had happily lived for 19 years, has been torn down, and condos are being built on that site. The Carr Companies, the developer of that site, is now building us a new theatre in a hotel just around the corner on N. Fairfax St. that is being converted into condos AND a theatre. This is an extraordinary opportunity for MetroStage. They have offered us a 30 year rent free lease (value over $8M) and the external framework (hundreds of thousands of $$) for building our new theatre within this condo conversion. Now we must finish the build out with all of the interior needs of a theatre: a stage and seating, lighting and sound, box office and concession area, an elevator, backstage dressing rooms etc etc etc.

Our architect Skip Maginniss has designed an exciting new space for MetroStage within the limitations of a few structural columns, and we promise to create another intimate theatre venue for you where we can continue to offer the engaging, uncompromising artistry with our plays and music that you have experienced in our past three locations. But we need your help.

Help MetroStage meet our million dollar campaign goal and make a donation now. Please view our new brochure with lots more information about our new theatre and naming opportunities. We will also have a wall of supporters who have donated $1,000+ in 2021 and 2022. Thank you in advance for helping make the next 30 years as exciting as the past 30+ years.

Click Donate or send a check to MetroStage P.O. Box 1152, Alexandria VA 22313.
