From Broadway to Classics, on stage and in concert, Lisa Vroman has established herself as one of America’s most versatile voices. Lisa is performing in the new National Tour of Phantom of the Opera in Baltimore and is joining us for an evening of cabaret. Her friend and accompanist Joe Walsh has been seen in many MetroStage productions and also at the Lyceum in our cabaret series.

Bios
Lisa Vroman is best known for starring as Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, Los Angeles and San Francisco (where she won a Theatre Critics Award). She is returning to the production as Madame Giry in the new North American tour beginning this November 2025 at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore. Her career spans decades and includes more than 64 different theatrical productions, 29 opera/operetta roles, and hundreds of concert appearances around the world. She has played Rosabella in The Most Happy Fella at New York City Opera (with Paul Sorvino) and Charlotte in A Little Night Music with Michigan Opera Theatre, starring Leslie Uggams and Ron Raines. She starred as Lili Vanessi in Kiss Me Kate with both Glimmerglass Opera and The MUNY (St. Louis). At the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford CT, she played Marian in The Music Man with Shirley Jones playing her mother and Patrick Cassidy as Harold Hill. Lisa appeared on PBS as Johanna in the Emmy Award-winning production of Sweeney Todd and performed with Utah Opera, New Jersey Opera (Die Fledermaus), and premiered (and recorded) two comic operas by composers John Musto (Bastianello) and William Bolcom (Lucrezia) with the New York Festival of Song. She was the first to play both Fantine and Cosette in Les Miserables. She has even played Mary Poppins alongside Dick Van Dyke at the Hollywood Bowl.
Joe Walsh is an accomplished conductor, music director and pianist. He was Music Director at MetroStage for A Child’s Christmas in Wales, Master Class, Christmas at the Old Bull and Bush and George, Don’t Do That!. He was music director for The King and I with Broadway veterans Lisa Vroman and Kevin Grey at Lyric Opera Virginia. Joe has worked with the In Series in Washington D.C., as well as the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy for five summers. Joe was involved in the musical preparation of more than 65 productions at Virginia Opera, where he served for 17 years. He is Associate Professor of Music and Theater at George Mason University where he serves as music director for Broadway musicals and opera productions. Joe has been music director at Riverside Dinner Theater, The Delaware Children’s Theatre and Three Little Bakers Dinner Theater in Wilmington, Delaware. He is an active recitalist, accompanying classical voice recitals and Broadway cabarets. He is thrilled to be back at MetroStage for this special Cabaret with friend and colleague Lisa Vroman.
