Bios

Roz White (vocalist) has been one of MetroStage’s most featured artists for more than 20 years. She originated her signature role of Pearl Bailey in Pearl Bailey By Request at MetroStage, played Billie Holiday in Ladies Swing the Blues, Alberta Hunter in Bricktop, and Mamie Till, Emmett Till’s mother, in Anne and Emmett. She has also appeared in Bessie’s Blues, Cool Papa’s Party, Gee’s Bend, multiple productions of Three Sistahs, world premieres of Uprising and Blackberry Daze, and also Gin Game, Ella First Lady of Song, Two Queens One Castle, Shake Loose, Helen Hayes nominated Gee’s Bend, and more, including many cabarets at MetroStage.  Most recently, she toured for two years with the national tour of the Broadway musical-Tina, the Tina Turner Musical, playing Zelma Bullock, Tina’s mother, and back in DC has performed Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill at Mosaic Theatre, performed in Blues in the Night at Arizona Theatre Company, and will be departing soon for another national Broadway tour, name to be announced soon. Roz graduated from Duke Ellington School of the Arts (Voice) and Howard University (Musical Theatre) and began her career as Effie in the Broadway tour of Dreamgirls.

Shanti Walker (vocalist) is an acclaimed vocalist from the DMV known for his brilliant tone, mellow voice, and beautifully crafted delivery. He has been surrounded with music his entire life, with a mother who is a singer and a father who is a vinyl enthusiast. His style boasts flavors of R&B, Blues, and Jazz. Some of his musical influences include Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, and Luther Vandross. As a singer/songwriter Shanti was signed to RCA Records in 1994 and had the opportunity to perform background vocals with Aaron Neville, Joe Thomas, Linda Ronstadt, Hall & Oates, SWV, and Alexander O’Neill. In 2017 Shanti released a self-titled EP with all original tracks, and performing lead and background vocals. He has performed with many bands in the DMV. His recent collaboration with "The Soulful House Syndicate" label is his first production of all soulful house tracks featuring his original lyrics. Shanti is quoted as saying "Music has blessed me, so it is my responsibility to use music to bless the world."

 

Greg C. Holloway (drums/percussion) is a native of Washington, DC, and has performed in dozens of full productions and cabarets at MetroStage: Three Sistahs (three productions), Ladies Swing the Blues, Bricktop, Josephine Tonight!, Ella First Lady of Song, the Helen Hayes nominated Gee’s Bend, and more. Holloway has performed with Hank Jones, Freda Payne, Carl Fontanna, Rob McConnell, Chuck Israel, Jim Pugh, Gene Bertoncini, Maguire Sisters, Blackstone the Magician, Sheri Lewis, Bruce Conti, Rich Little, Sista Monica Parker, Aretha Franklin, Jimmy Heath, Master Chorale of Washington DC, Nena Freelon Vanessa Rubin, and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. He received an undergraduate degree in Music Education and Percussion Performance from Howard University. He has also participated in the Jazz Studies summer program at Eastman School of Music. Greg later pursued an M.Ed. with an emphasis in Jazz Drumming/Percussion Methodology and an M.Sc. (Counseling Psychology) from University of La Verne in Southern California.

 

John Stanley- (piano/keyboards) is an extraordinarily gifted pianist and vocalist, and has performed with a multitude of music industry artists, from the smooth sounds of Luther Vandross, the chart-topping Mariah Carey, to the timeless voice of Barbra Streisand. Other notable artists he has performed with are Stephanie Mills, Freddie Jackson, Chaka Khan, Ledisi, Gerald Levert, Ashford and Simpson, Regina Bell, Angie Stone, Take 6, Donnie McClurkin, Richard Smallwood, Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Hudson, and Josh Groban. After serving for over 30 years as Musical Director for the living legend Patti Labelle, John has returned to the DMV, where in the 1990’s he was part of God’s Trombones at Howard University. 

 

Hamilton Hayes (bass) is a graduate of Howard University, earning a Bachelor's degree in 2000 and a Master’s degree in 2002. From there, his career soared to incredible heights. Mr. Hayes has performed around the world with various artists, including Grammy Award Winners, as a bassist and Music Director. His role as an arranger, orchestrator, and musical transcriptionist is equally impressive, including his collaborations with five-time Grammy Award-winning artist Yolanda Adams and the world-renowned Philadelphia Philharmonic Orchestra.
